Horchata is a delicious rice based drink. This is a very well-known drink just like the Agua de Jamaica or Agua de Tamarindo. They go great with any Mexican dish. They taste delicious when served over ice or when served chilled.
You will need:
- Cinnamon Sticks (or ground cinnamon)
- Sweet Condensed milk
- Vanilla extract
- Put some rice and cinnamon sticks in water and let it sit for about an hour or so. I prefer over night if possible. Then you will add all this to a blender and blend well. Make sure that you keep one thing in mind. One part milk to one part water. This mix does not count toward that.
2. Add one can of the sweetened condensed milk, sugar and vanilla. The amount of sugar and vanilla is to your taste. Add the blended mix and stir (I sometimes don’t strain my mix because I like the little pieces of rice and cinnamon in my drink. but you may strain if you like and the taste will still be the same). Do a taste test. If anything is needed then add a little at a time.
Serve Chilled or over ice and enjoy!
