Agua De Toronga (Grapefruit water)

This is a fruit that my parents love but a fruit that I don’t like to eat.  It’s also one of the few fruit trees that I have at home and one that keeps my orange tree company.

The only reason I made this drink was because of my parents request. They love grapefruit, so I decided to do it for them and to be honest, I’m glad I did, because this simple drink was delicious, I loved it. I still wont eat it, but in Agua Fresca, I’ll definitely drink it again.

You will need:

  1. Grapefruits
  2. Sugar
  3. Water

Make sure you wash the fruit before you start with all the squeezing and have a small strainer handy so you can catch-all the seeds.

Once you have finished squeezing all the grapefruit you want, it’s time to add the water. I suggest you add the water in small portions this way you can control the taste. If you really like the taste of grapefruit you will need less water but if you want that taste a little mild than you will add more water to it. So, once you have added the water, its time to add the sugar, mix well and then do a taste test, this will give you the idea of what you will need more. Add more water or more sugar if needed and once you have acquired your desired taste, put this drink in the fridge to chill. Serve over ice and enjoy!
