Chocolate Caliente (Hot Chocolate)

Very easy recipe with many delicious variations. A delicious hot drink for our cold days and nights. Sometimes we like it with some “Conchitas” or sometimes we have it with “bolillo”.

You will need:

  1.  Mexican Chocolate Bars (Chocolate Abuelita or Ibarra)
  2. Sugar
  3. Cinnamon Sticks
  4. Milk

  1.  Put about 1 1/2 cups of water to boil with 2 cinnamon sticks. Once the water boils and turns a red/brownish color, you will add half a gallon of milk and let boil one more time.

2.  Once the milk starts to boil you will add the first chocolate bar. Stir until the bar dissolves and add the second chocolate bar. Stir until this one dissolves as well and let it boil for about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup sugar and stir. let it boil one more time for about 2 more minutes and that’s it. *Do a taste test. add more sugar if needed.
