Fried Chile Salsa (Salsa de Chiles Fritos)

This is one of the many Spicy Salsas we love here at home and I’m wishing you and your family will love it as much as we do. This is a perfect spicy salsa for tacos. Here at my home we love salsa in general so I tend to have them ready for what every meal we will have.  Very simple to make and delicious!

You will need:

  1. 10 Roasted Arbol Chili Pods (Chile de arbol tostado) *This can vary depending on how hot you want the salsa
  2. 4 Chile Puya
  3. 7 Tomatillo boiled (tomatillo cocido)
  4. 1 Tsp Ground Cumin (comino molido)
  5. 1 Garlic clove
  6. Salt to taste


Boil the tomatillos and set side. add a TBS of oil to a frying pan and add the chiles and the garlic. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until the chiles become a bit soft. Remove from heat and add the chiles to the blender a few at a time along with the oil from the pan. Now add the tomatillos with about 1/4 cup of the water, the ground cumin and salt. Blend well. Do a taste test. Here you will have the opportunity to add more salt if needed or even more of the chiles if this salsa is not hot enough for you. Add the rest of the chiles only if you want more hotness to it.


*If you do this salsa with only half of the chiles and it’s still spicy, you can bring the heat level down by adding more tomatillos, add two tomatillos at a time and blend, than do a taste test until you have your desired heat. Just remember to add more salt if needed.
