If you have seen my recipe for the Oven Shrimp Boil you will see the similarities between these two. The only difference here is that I’ll be combining everything in a bag with the delicious Spicy Butter Sauce and ready to serve. This is a messy dish, just make sure you have enough paper napkins handy or even bibs for those that love getting messy. This does have a few different steps in the preparation so lets gets started.
Please by all means you can add any seafood that you love and I guarantee you that it will still be delicious. Maybe add some lobster tails, crab legs, mussels or even scallops. Make this a dish YOUR dish with everything that YOU love.
You will need:
- 2 lbs. Shrimp deveined but with shell
- 10 Red Potatoes
- 5 Corn on the cob
- 1 pk Sausage of your choice
- 32 oz. Chicken Broth
- 1 bag. Zatarain’s Crab boil in a bag
- 4 Lemons
- 1 1/2 Sticks butter
- 1 tsp Ginger paste
- 2 tsp Garlic paste
- 1/2 Med. Onion
- 4-5 cups Spicy Butter Sauce
Put water to boil in a big pot along with the chicken broth. Add the 1 sliced lemon, the onion, 1 tsp of garlic and ginger, bring all this to a boil then add the corn, the butter and the Zatarain’s pouch and let all this come to a new boil. In the mean time, you will fry the shrimp in 1 tbsp of butter with a tsp of garlic paste and fresh lemon juice. Turn only once and set aside. Next, we will fry the sausage in 1 tbsp of butter until crispy on both sides and set aside.
Now that the water has come to a second boil we will add the potatoes and the sausage that we just got done cooking. Let this come to a new boil or until the potatoes are cooked. This is the part where you will add the additional seafood of your preference. Just remember to add more water if needed. Add more until the additional seafood is covered with it. Cover the pot and boil until everything is fully cooked.
Once everything is done cooking, Drain the water and get the plastic bags ready. Add a little of everything to each bag. Once you are done adding everything to the bags, it’s time to add the spicy butter sauce to each bag making sure you add enough to completely coat, close the bag and shake, making sure everything is coated well and that each bag still has some of the butter sitting at the bottom of the bag. Repeat this step with all of the bags that you are preparing. If you have some sauce left, put that in a bowl and place on the table along with some lemon wedges, that way anyone that wants more sauce may get some. But they should have enough of that butter sauce in their own bag for dipping. Serve hot and in the bag. Enjoy!
